Remembering the dignity of children in detention. On 2024-12-28, Don Charity Foundation partnered with Embwambwa Foundation for “Nikumbuke, Mimi ni wa Thamani” at the juvenile detention facility in Upanga. We shared essential items and a message that being in detention does not remove a child’s dignity, need for care or possibility of a better future. The activity took place at Juvenile detention facility, Upanga, Dar es Salaam and reflected our commitment to children, dignity and reintegration through respectful, practical engagement.

For us, this update is about more than recording an event. It captures the people, partnerships and choices that turn compassion into responsible action. We value approaches that listen, protect dignity and respond to the context in front of us rather than assuming that every community needs the same thing.

We are grateful to the participants, hosts, members and partner organizations who made the engagement possible. Their time and trust helped us continue learning how to serve with care. As the Foundation grows, we will carry the lessons from this activity into future programs and continue sharing approved public information with honesty and respect.
